A Python benchmarking script was developed to assess the performance of seven different free stem splitters for a side project requiring audio separation. Using Creative Commons test tracks, the actual Signal-to-Distortion Ratio (SDR) of each output was measured. The results revealed which tools produced the best quality outputs and provided insights into batch processing speeds and the appropriate use cases for local models versus online tools. This information aids developers in selecting the right audio separation tool for various scenarios, including API integration and local development.
